The purpose of the Merced Youth Soccer Association's Recreational soccer program is to have ALL kids play, learn, and enjoy soccer. Boys and girls ages 5 to 18 are offered the opportunity to play. Early-Bird Recreational sign ups are in May and regular registration in June each year. Practices begin after August 1st and Opening Day on the first Saturday after Labor Day.
We offer team play for boys and girls teams in every age group up from under 6 to under 18's. In the under 6 and under 18 divisions we offer co-ed play.
Our regular season runs from September to mid-November. Our Under 8's and Under 10's then compete in Jamborees, while the older age groups compete in the MYSA CUP, our season-ending tournament that decides a champion per age group.
Those Recreational players that possess skill and want to play longer in a more competitive environment after the Recreational season have the opportunity to try out for one of the All-Star (Select Teams) teams for age groups Under 10 - Under 19. These teams represent Merced in our California Youth Soccer Association District VIII which runs from Lodi/Galt in the North to Merced in the South, and all cities in between Tracy and Sonora. Tryouts are in late November and practices begin in early December, with the season running from mid-January to early March. It is a great opportunity to refine soccer skills against other cities' best Recreational players.
